2026 IAFNS BOARD OF TRUSTEES CONFLICTS OF INTEREST DISCLOSURE FORM


As a Board of Trustees member of the Institute for the Advancement of Food and Nutrition Sciences (IAFNS), I have the right, authority, opportunity, and obligation to participate in the governance of IAFNS. As such, all actions taken in my capacity as a trustee of IAFNS must be in the best interest of IAFNS. Further, I must recuse myself from votes on issues that are or might be construed as a conflict of interest.


If you should have any questions regarding applicable conflicts of interest, please contact the IAFNS Executive Director or IAFNS Legal Counsel to discuss further.


The following are relationships, interests, or situations involving myself, spouse, partner, or dependent children that might be or give the appearance of being a potential conflict of interest between myself and IAFNS.


Suggested minimum time period for disclosures is 3 years prior to date of completion and those that will become active within the next 12 months.


Note that connections and relationships are not inherently conflicts of interest; it is only when they create a real or perceived incentive to make a decision on behalf of IAFNS that is adverse to IAFNS’s best interests that they rise to the level of conflicts of interest.


If you have no conflicts of interest related to IAFNS to report in any of the following categories, you may simply write, “None.”

Examples of Conflicts of Interest

  • You serve on the advisory board of a university department and there are students from that university applying for an IAFNS student internship.

  • You serve on the board of, or are a paid consultant to, a company which sells goods or services to IAFNS, or from which IAFNS is contemplating purchasing goods or services.

  • Examples may include a PR firm to be engaged for a branding effort, a potential hotel property for the annual meeting, or a contract laboratory engaged to carry out work for IAFNS.

  • Your spouse sits on the board of directors of a business which sells goods or services to IAFNS or from which IAFNS is contemplating purchasing goods or services.
