Why is this research valuable?
Caffeine is one of the most widely consumed food components and its ability to act as a stimulant is the primary reason for its consumption. Consumed by nearly all of the population both in the U.S. and globally, the level of caffeine exposure is of considerable interest. The predominate source of caffeine is from beverages but caffeine can also be found in cocoa or chocolate containing foods, dietary or herbal supplements, and medications. Caffeine is naturally occurring in coffee and tea but added to soft drinks and energy drinks.
The caffeinated beverage marketplace is continually evolving resulting in considerable interest in understanding the impact caffeinated beverages have on levels of intakes. Therefore, estimates of caffeine intakes are informative to public health.
Caffeine Research
The benefits, risks, and consumption of caffeine is an important issue. Peer-reviewed research is an important resource for decision makers in the public sector and the private sector.
