Session Title: Science-Based Principles for Food Classification Focused on Processing and Formulation – to Support Public Health
This presentation at the Society for Prevention Research covered how an independent writing team, supported by IAFNS, generated science-based Principles for classifying foods focused on processing and formulation.
In the talk, the Principles and supporting rationale were presented, as refined through open feedback mechanisms. Examples were provided to illustrate how applying the Principles can strengthen research design, interpretation and decision-making.
The May 29th talk touched on areas of consensus across stakeholders with disparate views to support evidence-based policy.
The presentation was given at the Hyatt Regency Washington from 1:15-2:45 pm ET.
