With the continued focus on incorporating diverse populations into health research, women’s health has received substantial attention with regard to preventing diseases and better treating medical conditions.  As science unravels and provides a better understanding of the physiological changes that accompany menopause, medical research attempts to link these changes with the personal and clinical experiences of this transition, and its relation to aging in general.

Cognitive changes, including so-called “brain fog” are commonly reported at this life stage, but what is the link between these symptom reports, underlying brain problems or conditions, and subsequent changes in cognitive capacity as women age? What do we know about the causes of these changes and their capacity to alter thinking and functioning?  And what is known about the role of nutrition and diet in the trajectories of these changes?

Do we have evidence that nutrition can be impactful in mitigating these trajectories?  Join IAFNS as we hear from Dr. Robert Wallace, the Irene Ensminger Stecher Emeritus Professor of Epidemiology and Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa, as he shares his experiences and research about what is known today and suggests future directions.

The webinar was followed by an invitation-only dialogue with Dr. Wallace. For more information about IAFNS, please email science@iafns.org
