Although GLP-1-based medications have been available for over a decade, new forms have been and continue to be approved to address the persisting population challenges with obesity. Because these obesity medications (AOMs) work by impacting appetite through a number of mechanisms, there is increased attention to the energy and nutrient intake of patients both to support weight management success and ensure nutrient adequacy. At present, there exists no official practice guidance on nutritional assessment, management, and monitoring of patients taking AOMs. However, clinical experience points to some evidence-based recommendations.

Join IAFNS as Dr. Jaime Almandoz of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center presented recent work translating the clinical experience with AOMs into practical nutritional considerations and guidance that can support effective use.

  • The public webinar was followed by an invitation-only/member-only dialogue with Dr. Almandoz.
