The human microbiome is crucial in mediating how diet affects our health, including metabolic, cardiovascular, and inflammatory aspects. However, the microbiome’s vast interpersonal variation and the largely uncharacterized microbial content of food pose significant challenges in mapping the complex relationships between dietary components, microbial taxa, and host effects.

Join IAFNS as we host speaker Nicola Segata, Principal Investigator at the Computational Metagenomics Lab at the Centre for Integrative Biology (CIBIO), University of Trento in Italy.

Dr. Segata will describe work to unravel these links and their translational potential using approaches based on large-scale metagenomic investigations coupled with specific in vitro and in vivo validations.
