Over 90% of North Americans exceed the recommended intake limit for added sugars. This webinar, hosted jointly by IAFNS and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, focuses on the role of low-calorie sweeteners (LCS) as a tool for reducing intake of added sugars. This webinar will review what is meant by an Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI) for food additives which include LCS, and why it confers protection. Speakers will address approaches for evaluating nutrition research studies that examine LCS and the translation of this information for practice. The AACE perspective on LCS as a dietary management tool will be presented. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of the panelists.
