IAFNS is celebrating its fourth anniversary of catalyzing food safety and nutrition science to benefit public health. The milestone comes as North Americans are taking a closer look at their food systems. Driven by a focus on health and wellness, consumers and researchers increasingly want to know where food comes from and how it is made. There are growing calls for reduced sodium and sugar, a better understanding of fiber’s role in our diets, advances in food microbiological safety, and reducing exposure to harmful metals. IAFNS has responded to these calls. Since our launch in 2021, IAFNS has supported 82 scientific papers in the peer-reviewed literature, been in the news each month, and reached tens of thousands of food safety and nutrition professionals through conferences, Op-Eds, webinars and scientific programs. IAFNS prioritizes the topics that matter most. Science and evidence are central to the foods consumers buy, eat, and share with their families. These topics include sodium, low- and no-calorie sweeteners, fiber, food microbiology, food processing and heavy metals. Guided by our core values of scientific integrity, transparency, collaboration and public benefit, IAFNS provides the evidence base for confident decision-making by all sectors. Please join us on this journey as we catalyze science for public benefit and work toward a healthier, more informed society.
