IAFNS Polices on Generative Artificial Intelligence
Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) has the potential to aid in scientific insights and streamline processes to enhance productivity in research.
However, as a funder of food and nutrition research, IAFNS wants to ensure that the technology is applied ethically, responsibly and effectively within funded projects and our own work.
IAFNS Position on Artificial Intelligence Use
At IAFNS, we embrace the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to revolutionize industries, enhance operational efficiency, and improve decision-making. AI is a powerful tool that is a complement to human expertise, not a replacement for it. We are committed to the responsible application of AI, ensuring our efforts to catalyze credible science are coupled with steadfast commitments to data privacy, ethical use, and the human element that is fundamental to our success.
By implementing the following guidelines, IAFNS can promote transparency, safeguard the integrity of the research and support the responsible advancement of AI technologies.
Guidance for Perspective and Current IAFNS-Funded Researchers on GAI Use
IAFNS adheres to rigorous procedures to maintain scientific integrity in all work we support. These requirements include adhering to the 9 Guiding Principles for Scientific Integrity and the Center for Open Science TOP Guidelines.
In alignment with principles on scientific integrity, a Principal Investigator (PI) is responsible for the content of any submission regardless of the use of generative artificial intelligence in responses to RFPs, scientific updates, and peer-reviewed publications. IAFNS requires disclosure of the use of AI generated materials.
